SCAR TREATMENT
VPL laser can be used to treat scars from injury, acne or surgery. The VPL Energist Plus Laser is used to remove the redness and hyperpigmentation in the scar.
What is a Scar Treatment?
Steroid injections can also be used in conjunction with the laser procedure in order to treat keloids or raised scars. Our team at Face & Body Boutique will recommend the perfect solution for your scar treatment.

How does it work?
Lasers treat a target in the skin called a chromophore. Chromophores come in two types: melanin (the pigment in sun damage, age spots, and hair follicles) and oxyhemoglobin (the redness in scars, blood vessels or rosacea). The specific wavelengths in laser treatments serve to destroy these chromophores. VPL Ultra Plus Energist allows for treatment of various issues by emitting the right wavelength for each type of treatment.
What to expect?
Scars, redness, spider veins and telangiectasia are targeted by the VPL, which works by causing the vessels to vasoconstrict, become paler and eventually disappear. Downtime for this procedure is minimal, but you may notice a little swelling and diffuse redness. VPL will clear up the redness, even up your skin tone and give your skin a renewed glow.Who is a good candidate?
A good candidate is a healthy person that is looking to treat their scars from acne, surgery or injury. It is extremely important to use sun protection and to avoid tanning beds for 2 weeks post procedure. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are contraindications to VPL.
Is there any aftercare required?
Downtime for this procedure is minimal, but you may notice a little swelling and diffuse redness. Is the VPL treatment safe?
As with all laser -or light treatments, there is a risk that the treated skin becomes darker or lighter. Most of the times this is not permanent and disappears after a while. If the skin is tanned, the chances of this happening are somewhat larger. We recommend you not to tan sunbath two weeks before the treatment and four weeks after the treatment. In addition, it is advisable to use a good sunscreen during this period.
