ROSACEA & COUPEROSE SKIN
Rosacea/Couperose skin is a skin condition that leads to redness, flushing, blood vessels and sometimes bumps and pimples on the nose, cheeks, and forehead.
What is Rosacea & Couperose Skin?
Rosacea can make those who suffer from it feel embarrassed and self conscious about the way they look. Certain foods, the sun, or other environmental irritants may be rosacea triggers. Sometimes these triggers cannot be avoided, and the rosacea becomes a daily problem for the patient.
At Face & Body Boutique we use the Energist Ultra Plus VPL to treat the tiny blood vessels that cause the unsightly redness. The VPL treatment can also help treat the bumps and acne caused by rosacea. Our providers have experience on how to help you manager your rosacea to help you feel your best.

How does it work?
What to expect?
Rosacea, redness, spider veins and telangiectasia are targeted by the VPL, which works by causing the vessels to vasoconstrict, become paler and eventually disappear. Downtime for this procedure is minimal, but you may notice a little swelling and diffuse redness. VPL will clear up the redness, even up your skin tone and give your skin a renewed glow.
Who is a good candidate?
A good candidate is a healthy person that is looking to treat their unwanted hair, hyperpigmentation, rosacea or acne. It is extremely important to use sun protection and to avoid tanning beds for 2 weeks post procedure. Pregnancy and breastfeeding are contraindications to VPL.
Is there any aftercare required?

As with all laser -or light treatments, there is a risk that the treated skin becomes darker or lighter. Most of the times this is not permanent and disappears after a while. If the skin is tanned, the chances of this happening are somewhat larger. We recommend you not to tan or sun bath two weeks before the treatment and four weeks after the treatment. In addition, it is advisable to use a good sunscreen during this period.

Our VPL device treats a target in the skin called a chromophore. Chromophores come in two types: melanin (the pigment in sun damage, age spots, and hair follicles) and oxyhemoglobin (the redness in blood vessels or rosacea). The specific wavelengths in treatments serve to destroy these chromophores. VPL Ultra Plus Energist allows for treatment of various issues by emitting the right wavelength for each type of treatment.
