The treatment

How does it work?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are extremely effective for deeper wrinkles, volume loss and lip augmentation. Hyaluronic acid is a substance from the body that is found in the skin that is responsible for water retention. It hydrates, gives flexibility, resilience and volume. As you get older, the production of hyaluronic acid diminishes and therefore your skin gets weaker and wrinkles may arise.  The filler is a gel that is injected under the skin which gives an instant lift and correction.

Benefits of fillers:

  • Immediate correction of moderate to deep wrinkles.
  • Stimulates the natural collagen production of the body
  • Feels soft and looks natural.
  • Provides a result that lasts a year or longer for many patients.A simple and practical procedure where patients can resume their daily activities almost immediately after being treated.

What to expect?

After an in-depth consultation and explanation from your provider, topical creams are used to numb the treatment area. Very thin needles or cannulas are used to gently inject the filler beneath the surface of your skin. Results are typically seen right away and you can return to your regular activities the next day.

Who is a good candidate?

Good candidates for fillers will have moderate to severe folds or wrinkles, or other problem areas that they do not want to correct with surgery (for example, under eye circles, sunken cheeks, lip augmentation etc.). Patients must be in good health and avoid blood thinner medications prior to the procedure. You cannot have the treatment if you are breast feeding or pregnant.

Is there any aftercare required?

Immediately after treatment there may be slight redness, swelling or a bruise may be visible. These issues typically resolve in a few days. You should avoid touching or massaging the filler for 2 weeks. It is also important to avoid sun exposure, facials and exercise for 2-3 days post procedure. Please call the clinic if you have any doubts or questions

Is it safe?

We only use FDA approved fillers that have been on the market and undergone the most rigorous approval processes. Risks from injections are very minimal. The most common reactions are bruising at the injection site or swelling of the treatment area. These side effects diminish quickly and can be treated with ice packs or over the counter pain medication.

The results?

The effect of the treatment depends on the type of dermal filler used, the treated area and the metabolism rate of the patient. Typically, hyaluronic acid has a duration of 6 to 12 months but this can vary from patient to patient. There are many different types of fillers with different molecule sizes that are used to treat different areas. Your provider will pick the perfect filler for your issue and skin type. The size of the molecule often determines how long the treatment will last.
