CRYOTHERAPY
Face & Body Boutique uses the innovative Cryopen which uses liquefied nitrous oxide to destroy lesions by freezing them in a matter of seconds.
What is cryotherapy?
Cryotherapy also known as cryosurgery is a non-invasive and non-surgical way to treat and eliminate certain skin issues like age spots, brown spots, liver spots, seborrheic keratoses, skin tags and warts.

How does it work?
Face & Body Boutique uses the innovative Cryopen which uses liquefied nitrous oxide to destroy lesions by freezing them in a matter of seconds. The Cryopen essentially freezes the lesions off by using very low temperatures. This causes the top layer of the skin cells to fall off and for the skin lesion to disappear.
What to expect?
Cryotherapy is the use of extreme cold(–196°C), in the form of liquid nitrogen, to remove skin growths. This simple procedure usually takes less than a minute with the innovative cryogen. Your provider will spray the liquid nitrogen directly onto the skin growth.
The treated area is likely to blister within a few hours. Within a few days a scab forms and the blister gradually dries up and the lesion falls off.
Who is a good candidate?
A good candidate is a healthy person who wants the following issues treated:
- seborrheic keratoses
- actinic keratoses
- sun spots
- warts
- skin tags
Is there any aftercare required?
Typically no special attention is needed during the healing phase. The treated area may be gently washed 1-2 daily, and should be kept clean.
When the blister dries to a scab, apply petroleum jelly and avoid picking at the scab. The scab peels off after 5–10 days on the face and 3 weeks on the hand. A sore or scab may persist as long as 3 months on the lower leg because healing in this site is often slow.
Is it safe?
The procedure is safe but does provide a risk of hypo or hyperpigmentation. It is important to avoid sun exposure post treatment. Your provider will discuss the risks of the treatment in entirety.
The results?
It can take 1 to 5 treatments to obtain the desired results. After the scab resolves, the lesion will either lessen or disappear.
