BELKYRA
Face & Body Boutique is excited to introduce
a new fat reduction and chin contouring treatment, Belkyra.
What is Belkyra?
A double chin can be caused by several factors, such as weight gain, genetics and the aging process. A strict exercise regimen and a proper diet can’t always change the appearance of the fullness or excess fat in this area. Belkyra injections are used to dissolve away that stubborn fat and recontours the area to create a beautiful jawline. Belkyra was introduced to the market in the U.S. in 2015 as Kybella and has been a very popular and successful treatment ever since.
While liposuction is an effective surgical treatment for submental fat, many patients do not want to undergo any sort of surgical treatments. The idea of an operation can be intimidating, and the discomfort and recovery time that follows is not an appealing option.

How does it work?
Belkyra is an injection made of bile acid, deoxycholic acid , which isnaturally produced by your body to help absorb fat. Once injected, the acid destroys fat cells beneath the chin area. The fat cells are eliminated from your body and results are noticeable within 4 – 6 weeks and are permanent.
What to expect?
After your free consultation, your practitioner will determine a treatment plan. Most people require more than one treatment to reach desired aesthetic goals with Belkyra. In clinical studies, many patients who’ve received Belkyra treatment achieved visible results after 2 to 4 treatments.
Before the procedure, your provider will mark the injection sites with a marker and may administer a topical numbing agent or ice pack to ease any pain or discomfort. Belkyra is injected in multiple sites under the chin and the acid then works gradually to kill fat cells, which are metabolized by the body over the following weeks.
The number of treatment sessions necessary varies for each person. Multiple treatments might be needed to reach optimal results.
Who is a good candidate?
The best candidate is an adult 18 years or older with mild to moderate fat under the chin (submental area).
Is there any aftercare required?
Though Belkyra is nonsurgical, some common side effects include pain, swelling, bruising, redness, and numbness. The recovery process associated with Belkyra is minimal in most cases, and downtime varies from person to person. Minor side effects typically subside in 1 to 2 weeks.
It may help to reduce swelling by icing the area and avoiding salty foods. Some patients have noticed an even better result when the treatment is combined with skin tightening treatment, Ultherapy. Your provider will determine what the best course is for you during your free consultation.
Is it safe?
Belkyra was introduced to the market in the U.S. in 2015 as Kybella and has been a very popular, safe and successful treatment ever since.
